We’re bringing the best marketing professionals in Hawaii together to share the inside secrets of marketing a nonprofit organization. Learn about the basics of marketing and branding, social media and getting the word out through traditional media outlets. This year’s workshop theme is based upon how you can know your story, then publish and share your story, and finally pitch your story to be covered by the media. We have 3 amazing workshops lined up:

 

Workshop 1: 9:30am to 11am

Getting your Ducks in a Row:

Structuring Nonprofit Marketing
Speaker: KC Collins

The catch phrase is, ‘let’s think outside the box’ when it comes to marketing and communications. The one little piece folks seem to forget is you need to build your box first! In this session we will talk about basic parts of the philanthropy ‘box’ before getting creative with strategies. Let’s get your ‘ducks in a row’ and then step off into a viable marketing strategy. Without doing your homework first, your marketing plan is bound to have lackluster results.

Marketing: A Strategic Approach
Speaker: Andrew Jackson

Marketing your non-profit is a certainly a mix of art and science, but approaching your communications challenges with a clear methodology based on strategy will help deliver consistently positive results. This session lays out a clear framework for developing your next marketing program. We’ll cover the development of your positioning, brand and marketing strategies and how they differ as well as the process that moves you from strategy to asset development and ultimately customer acquisition. The review of real-world case studies in this session will bring the concepts we are covering to life.

Social Media Trends for Nonprofits in Hawaii
Speaker: Toby Tamaye

Why is Facebook and Instagram the primary social media in Hawaii, and what type of content are people looking for? How do you attract social media influencers to engage and support the initiatives of your organization? What are the current trends in activating younger adults using social media? How can I use social media to promote events? Learn more about these and other topics from one of Hawaii’s top social media strategists.

AD UP Hawaii 2017

The 4th Annual Ad Up Hawaii presented by Kaiser Permanente will be on Saturday, October 14th at The Box Jelly in Kakaako. Six teams of Hawaii’s top marketing and communications professionals will be paired with a nonprofit, each having eight hours to develop a custom marketing campaign.

About AD UP Hawaii

Ad Up Hawaii is an off-shoot of Kokua.org who’s core mission has been bringing people together to support one another. By fostering collaboration, Ad Up was born.

Ad Up identified the biggest challenge that many nonprofits face as the ability to market themselves successfully. At the same time found many in the marketing field with these skills, had a desire to make a difference in the community but just didn’t know how.

By pulling the two groups together in a fun marketing competition-style event both groups could benefit, and the results have been overwhelming.

2017 will mark the 4th annual event. Over the years we have created marketing campaigns for fifteen local nonprofits, with the support of hundreds of marketing professionals.
